Terms of Service
Operator: Bulent Karamanoglu, trading as The Study Brief, ABN 30 779 077 297 · Review draft: 16 September 2026 · Governing law: Victoria, Australia
These terms govern your use of The Study Brief. By creating an account, you agree to them.
1. What The Study Brief is, and is not
The Study Brief is a study platform for Year 11, Year 12 and university students. It gives you practice problems, an AI study Tutor, private saved notes and a course Study Circle. It is study support, not professional advice in any field. Content is for learning only. Do not rely on The Study Brief for a decision that needs a qualified professional, get proper advice for that.
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 16 and provide accurate details. Students aged 16 to 17 may use the service only after a parent or guardian gives consent. Students under 16 cannot create an account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure. One account per person; do not share access.
3. Free founding beta
The founding beta is free. We do not take card details, charge subscription fees or automatically enrol you in a future paid plan. Any future paid service will require separate, clear agreement.
4. Refunds & your consumer rights
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If a service is not delivered with due care or as described, you may be entitled to a remedy. The founding beta is free, so there is nothing to refund. If something goes wrong, contact us and we will make it right where we can.
5. Acceptable use
Do not scrape, resell or bulk-export content; do not share your login; do not upload unlawful material or anything that identifies another person or breaches their privacy; do not attempt to break or overload the service. In the Study Circle, be respectful, explain your own reasoning, and do not post a current assessment question, submit another person’s work as your own, harass another member, or knowingly share false or unsafe information. We may hide community content and suspend accounts where needed to protect members or academic integrity.
6. Your content and ours
The workshops and model answers and platform content belong to The Study Brief or its contributors and are licensed to you for your personal study only. The answers, notes and files you create remain yours; you grant The Study Brief the limited licence needed to store and display them back to you and, for workshop submissions, to the person giving you feedback. A workshop, model answer or guide written by a mentor or editor is licensed to The Study Brief to publish on the platform, and its author keeps credit for it. Study Circle posts and replies are shown to signed-in members of the same course workspace. Peer contributions are not verified course content, and you should check them against the course materials.
7. Availability & liability
We work to keep The Study Brief available but do not guarantee it is uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, and without limiting the consumer guarantees above, The Study Brief is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited as permitted by Australian law. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Suspension & termination
You can delete your account any time from the Help page. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. On closure we delete or de-identify your data as set out in the Privacy Policy.
9. Complaints
If something is wrong, write to hello@thestudybrief.com.au. We reply within seven days and try to put it right. This does not limit any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or the Privacy Act.
10. Changes & governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified in-app or by email. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Questions: hello@thestudybrief.com.au.
